Legal Advantage LLC, an established high-growth company based out of the Washington DC area, is expanding and has an excellent opportunity for a motivated and talented salesperson in the DC & NYC/NJ -area. Legal Advantage LLC is a leading provider of cost-effective legal services to intellectual property attorneys, patent agents, paralegals, and individual inventors. This position is a perfect opportunity for a salesperson with a strong work ethic who is driven by the financial rewards of a salary plus commission pay structure. This position will report to the Vice President of Business Development and CEO and has an immediate earning potential of $100k first year (monthly base salary plus commissions) with merit increases based on performance, crossing $160K in second year.
Position: The territory for this position is the Washington DC & NYC/NJ regions. This position is a “hunter / gatherer” role where the ideal candidate will be expected to maintain and grow an existing book of business as well as further expand that business establishing and closing new clients. Services sold will have a short sales cycle (on average between 1 – 3 weeks) and the average price point per sale is $1 – $10K. The typical Legal Advantage LLC client is a top-level attorney within the IP Corporate legal departments, and Am Law 100 & 200 firms thus the candidate hired for this position must be able to demonstrate an ability to close a client within 15 minutes on a face-to-face meeting. It is expected that the hired candidate will be able to make an average of 4 new sales per week. This candidate will be expected to collaborate daily with account services representatives across the US and Canada in the Legal Advantage LLC offices as well as work with the operations and accounting teams to ensure optimal client satisfaction. Frequent reporting and updates to the CRM system will be expected.
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate success operating independently with limited supervision – this is one of the key ingredients to success for this role!! S/he will have an outgoing and assertive personality and should be goal-oriented. S/he will operate extremely well in a team-based environment and will be comfortable working with operations / accounting teams to ensure client satisfaction. This candidate will be expected to call on executive / C-level clients with ease and make frequent consultative selling presentations to existing and new clients. To be effective in this position, s/he must be articulate with stellar communication skills (both written and verbal) and must represent the company in a professional manner at all times. A critical component of this position is the ability for this candidate to operate independently and to possess a self-motivated / proactive mindset— this is NOT a role for someone who is looking to receive a lot of daily directions!!
- Minimum 5 years sales experience; minimum 2 years relevant sales experience
- Bachelor and / or law degree preferred
- Must live in the DC/NY area (preferably downtown)
- Must possess:
- Background in consultative selling
- Exceptional hunting and closing skills
- Willingness to make 20+ in-person sales visits each week (5 to new clients)
- Willingness to make cold and warm calls to support in-person visits
- Ability to travel within the DC & NY metro regions as well as make occasional trips to Philadelphia, VT, CT, and Boston (1 day each, per quarter, on average)
- Prior experience selling services to attorneys strongly desired
- Computer literacy including proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Excellent listening and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent organizational skills and time management abilities to meet recurring, and sometimes concurrent, deadlines
- Superior team orientation skills
- Strong attention to detail
